The Renault 16 is a car produced more than 1.8 million units in the Sandouville plant opened in 1965. It was presented to the public for the first time at the Geneva show in March 1965.
Designed by Philippe and Gaston Juchet Charbonneaux, it has built-in roof gutters and is the first French car sedan body-break hatchback. The shift lever is near the driving wheel, the dashboard meter horizontal velocity changed twice.
The Renault 16 won the European trophy car of the year in 1966 and was produced until 1981.
